Designed and developed PicassoDB, a cutting-edge hybrid storage solution supporting both relational and non-relational data structures. This innovative database was created to significantly reduce migration costs while enhancing performance.
PicassoDB leverages Cassandra's write-forward approach and adds SQL querying capabilities, creating a versatile database solution. The project included building comprehensive ETL services, designing scalable architectures, implementing sharding capabilities, and optimizing query performance through advanced indexing.
I developed the core business logic for reading and writing operations, which was critical since the entire system relies on its write-forward approach. I also built a complete SDK with ORM support, an interactive CLI, and a component library with built-in PicassoDB connectivity. The primary goal was to reduce backend development effort for developers while maintaining high performance standards.
